Pikey Sewa Kendra is a non-profit social service organization established in 2018 by the people of Loding-3, Solududhkunda Municipality in the Solukhumbu District. Operating in a naturally scenic village, our primary goal is to preserve the rich culture and ancient traditions that have been carried down through generations in the region.
The Kendra operates from a multi-purpose building designed to serve both spiritual and community needs. The top floor houses the monastery, featuring statues of Buddha, Buddhist deities, and a traditional Chhosam (altar) for religious ceremonies, prayers, and rituals. Meanwhile, the basement functions as a community social house open to all residents of Loding and the wider Tamakhani-3 area. This space hosts a variety of local events, including educational gatherings, cultural programs, and awareness campaigns directly tied to community welfare.
Furthermore, the Kendra is deeply committed to driving positive social change through educational support, social welfare programs, and any initiatives that actively uplift and develop our region.
Pikey Sewa Kendra has been continuously advancing its sacred mission of preserving, promoting, and passing on religious and cultural heritage, indigenous traditions, customs, rituals, and festivals to future generations. As part of this important mission, Mr. Gyalzen Sherpa and Mr. Pasang Sherpa, residents of Solududhkunda Municipality–3, generously donated 1,645 square meters (3–3–2–3.77) of land free of charge, which was officially transferred in the name of the Gumba. Likewise, Mr. Tenji Babu and Mrs. Tenji Ama generously donated suitable land free of charge to Pikey Sewa Kendra for the development of the Yulsang Puja site.
The support received for the construction of the Gumba and the preservation of our religious and cultural heritage from the local community, Solududhkunda Municipality, Koshi Province Government, Government of Nepal, as well as patrons, members, donors, organizations, institutions, and well-wishers residing both in Nepal and abroad, has been an extremely important achievement for Pikey Sewa Kendra.
Pikey Sewa Kendra extends its deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all individuals and organizations who have contributed their valuable time, effort, financial support, land, goodwill, trust, and encouragement toward making this sacred mission successful. Your contributions are not only supporting the construction and development of the present, but are also an invaluable investment in preserving our religion, culture, traditions, and identity for future generations. The contribution of every individual and organization involved in this historic and meaningful mission will always remain an important part of the history of Pikey Sewa Kendra. This sacred mission has moved forward through the collective support, cooperation, goodwill, and unity of everyone involved. With the hope that this spirit of trust, solidarity, and cooperation will continue in the days ahead, Pikey Sewa Kendra once again extends its heartfelt respect, sincere gratitude, and deepest appreciation to all our supporters and well-wishers. Building upon the successful implementation of its initial religious and cultural initiatives, Pikey Sewa Kendra is committed to establishing a sustainable and well-organized framework for the long-term operation of the Gumba and the preservation of its religious and cultural activities.
The Kendra plans to introduce and publish an annual religious and cultural calendar to facilitate the systematic organization and continuity of regular prayers, religious ceremonies, rituals, festivals, and other spiritual and cultural programs throughout the year. As part of its long-term vision, the Kendra also intends to establish a dedicated Buddhist Meditation and Retreat Centre to provide appropriate facilities for domestic and international visitors, devotees, and practitioners interested in Buddhist teachings and spiritual practice. The Centre is envisioned to accommodate both short-term and long-term meditation, study, retreat, and spiritual practice programs.
In addition, the Kendra plans to establish a Buddhist and Cultural Library and Research Centre with resources related to Buddhist philosophy, teachings, religion, history, culture, traditions, and local heritage. The centre will support education, research, documentation, and the preservation and dissemination of knowledge for future generations. Through these long-term initiatives, Pikey Sewa Kendra aims to develop the Gumba as a sustainable centre for Buddhist practice, religious and cultural preservation, education, research, and spiritual retreat, while also creating meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange and responsible tourism. The overarching objective is to preserve and promote the region’s religious and cultural heritage while creating a lasting institution that can serve the local community, practitioners, researchers, visitors, and future generations.
